2011-01-30 02:13:20Day 8 Finals: The PodiumWhat a competition. After 8 days of great and safe flights, the race has an end. As we presumed the fight for the second place was very tight, the pilots Thomas Gostner (ITA) and René Vidal, got the first and second places of the day, with a difference of only 18 seconds. Carlos Rocca (CHI) tried to make a different strategy for the day, but the route he chooses didn’t work for his plans, resulting in the 7th place for today. 2011-01-29 16:30:10Day 8: Last ChanceThis is it. The last day of competition, where Sebastian Nägel (GER) will have to demostrate and left his signature at the mountains, standing in the first place. The great battle for the second place and the ticket to the Gran Prix Finals, will put all the knowledge and abilities from the Chilean pilots Carlos Rocca and René Vidal, and of course, from Thomas Gostner, the great Italian pilot. The task for this last day consists in 284,2Km, fliying straight to the Copin point, near Putaendo city, then to Democoen hill, La Gloria by the south and then go back to Vitacura. Great Day! 2011-01-28 21:55:34Day 7 Finals: ON FIRE!!!This championship has been absolutely amazing. After one of the hardest task of this QGP, where only the 4 leading pilots finished the race, the temperature gets the day of tomorrow, and final one, to his more intense red. Sebastian Nägel (GER) did well today, but the decition to get so high at the “Lagunas” sector, before passing through the last point of “Central” didn’t work for him, coming in the third place. But anyway, he has the throne almost for sure. 2011-01-28 14:07:42Day 7: The battle for the secondToday the weather conditions are different than yesterday. With a more stable mass of air between 2000 and 3000 mts of height. This condition will put an additional complication for the pilots in this hard task. Having Sebastian Nägel (GER) in the first position, and 7 points of difference with the second place, the battle goes now for that position, between Carlos Rocca (CHI), René Vidal (CHI) and Thomas Gostner (ITA). 2011-01-28 01:52:49Day 6 Finals: Sebastian Again!First of all I need to do a correction for something I wrote yesterday. Our leading pilot, Sebastian Nägel (GER) is 20 years old! Not the old 23 guy I referred yesterday (LOL). But at last, his training and abilities are getting the best results for him. The race had almost 3 hours and 15 minutes of duration, where the first and second place deferred by only a minute and 14 seconds. Chilean pilots did great, making a statement that they can manage the mountains very well. Thomas got the fourth place, but he’s keeping to show us the constancy of the experimented glider pilot. 2011-01-27 16:50:38Day 6: Fly HighFor the 6th day of competition, the Task is different form the other days. With excellent weather condition, no important thermal inversions, the task setter has design a route that goes to the north, straight to the “Laguna Cuadrada”, heading south to the Torre Point, ubicated east of Democoen’s hill, and then, the pilots will have to gain a lot of altitude to reach the Olivares Sur point, very inside the mountains, at the Cajón del Maipo sector. After marking this one, head to the south, till Machalí, and the go back to Vitacura. The task consists in 438Km long for this great day. 2011-01-27 01:44:49Day 5 Finals: Unbeatable SebastianYes, after a long task, and 5 days of competition, the german pilot Sebastian Nägel with his ASW-27, is making the difference with the other pilots. With 23 years old, and only a month flying in Chile, he has his second triumph in this QGP, and the first position in the preliminary. Thomas Gostner (ITA) is managing the most constant flight, with the second position today, and second in general. The Chilean pilots, René Vidal and Carlos Rocca, got the third and fourth places. We are wating the same weather conditions till the end of the championship. 2011-01-27 00:31:56Turnpoints updatedTurnpoints updated and uploaded. A very interesting step for René, Sebastian, Carlos and Thomas, who are heading this competition. The task consists in in 428,3Km, flying north till Chincolco, then to the north again to Totoral. After turning south, fly to Central, then to la Gloria’s point, to come back to Vitacura. This race will be very fast! |
